The author, Edgar Rice Burroughs, tells of his discovery of the proverbial message in a bottle – a thermos bottle, actually, while fishing on the south coast of Greenland.  The message tells of a man whose family has been building submarines for the international arms race leading up to World War I.  Crossing the Atlantic on an American freighter, he is cast into the sea as a German U-Boat sinks the freighter.  Alone in a lifeboat with only his dog, Nobs, and a girl rescued from the sea, he and Nobs keep the girl warm in the cold Atlantic night with body heat.

This is just a reminder that the three Tarzan books, Tarzan of the Apes, The Return of Tarzan, and The Beasts of Tarzan, will all be retired from this site no later than May 30, 2013. After that time, they may be purchased through www.BurroughsGuy.com, or directly from audible.com. The first two episodes of each book will remain available here free of charge.

The Fantastic Worlds podcast is changing how it handles completed books.

In the past, once a novel has been completed on the podcast, it has remained available at this website for 6 to 9 months before "retirement".

Starting now, that will change. Once a novel has posted its final episode, it will remain available here free of charge for three weeks only.  After that time, it will be available for purchase. Purchase links will be provided here at this website, and also at www.BurroughsGuy.com.

This means, in particular, that the first two Tarzan novels will be available here free of charge for a maximum of three weeks from today.

As in the past, the current novel, whatever it is, will be posted free of charge an episode at a time, and all episodes for that novel will remain available for downloading until the three week limit is reached.

Thank you for your time and your support. Stay fantastic!
